Getting Into Our SanGiovese / Pinot Noir Blend

Today we siphoned off our 2005 SanGiovese/Pinot Noir blend.
It was a sad event in one way because of the empty space now left where the barrel once sat. However, we managed to keep the old barrel spinning tradition alive today - see video at bottom of Post.
In the video you'll see Via Vecchia Winery demonstrating the fine and ancient art of barrel spinning, tira bombola or tirage tonneau. Traditionally it is a test by ancient Vintners to see if the cellar rats had sampled more than they should of the wine they've just decanted out of the barrel - if they couldn't spin and race the barrel as you see, they had obviously drunk too much and would be severely beaten. Here, (in order of spinning) you see Michael, Marty, Anton and Paolo probably qualifying for a light whipping.

Also, we have a WINNER to the "what is it?" competition. The Winner is Ron from PA - that's him on the left). We have reserved something special (beginning with "M" - can anyone guess what it could be?) for you, Ron. Hey, Ron, if you have a better photo of yourself, please send it in and we'll load it - sorry, but this is the best one we have of you.
